Smell the Sea Roses -
A Day at The Willard Beach House
Wake up in the morning to the smell of a mixture the salt water and the sea roses. Go to sleep in your king size bed listening to the waves lap on shore outside your window. This is the sounds and smell of summer at the Willard Beach House.
Enjoy a cup of coffee in our garden with that sweet smell in the early morning air. In the distance, you may hear a fog horn or see a ship come sliding by in the channel. You are only steps away from Willard Beach, a lovely, private horseshoe neighborhood beach located in South Portland, Maine.
After coffee, take a walk on the Spring Point Shoreway Trail. It is a 1.6 mile paved pedestrian trail that parallels Willard Beach and continues through Fort Preble http://tinyurl.com/portlandharbormuseam and Spring Point Light. Continue on and stop in at the Portland Harbor Museum for a history lesson. From the museum cross over the right of way in The Port Harbor Marine working boatyard which eventually leads to the end of the trail at the Liberty Ship Museum and Bug Light. The entire trail skirts the ocean. On your return, consider stopping at one of several bistros for refreshments. This is real Maine.
As our guest, we provide you with two tickets to sail on The Bagheera, http://www.portlandschooner.com/, a two masted Maine built schooner, which plies the waters of Casco Bay just outside your door.
